Pink Saturday as a baken for the world
Saturday 28 June 2025 the Dutch town of Zaandam will be the host of the Dutch ´Pink Saturday´ festivities. A day where the LHBTIQA+ community celebrates its diversity and the many accomplichments they have gained over the past decades. But they also pay attention to the things that still needs improvement.
The local organisations ‘stichting White Cube’ and ´PLAY room´want to make this day a baken for the world. An baken of light to create international solidarity and strengthen the LHBTIQA+ community in places where they are less lucky as in the Netherlands.
Connecting the LHBTIQA+ community worldwide
The idea is simple: video-artists from all corners of this globe are invited to send in art-videos that deals with LHBTIQA+ issues. After a jury-selection the selected videos will be send to galleries, art-academies, art-house cinemas and even privat homes worldwide. All locations will show these videos to their audience on Saturday 28 June 2025. And thus creating international solidarity.
In 2016 and 2017 stichting White Cube organized a simular event to mark the 70th anniversairy of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Both years more than 20 artists had their videos shown to audiences from Rio de Janeiro to Jakarta, from Hong Kong to Skopje and from Vancouver to Krakow.

In 2025 Zaandam (near Amsterdam) will show these videos at 3 locations: Zaans Theater, Pathé Cinema and PLAY room. We are still looking for more locations worldwide to join this global event. The videos will be provided for free to each location via a cloud-service including a brochure.
OPEN CALL FOR VIDEO-ARTISTS
Video-artists from every corner of this planet are invited to send in their video with a LHBTIQA+ topic to the jury by email. This emil should include:
* name of the artist
* nationality and country of residence
* a link to the video on Youtube or Vimeo (if private include the pass-word)
* a description of the video in 4 to 5 sentences
* a video-still that we can use for the brochure and press release
* when selected we need a download link for the video in mp3 format

Applying and participating in this event is free of costs
Early March the jury will select the videos. Each artists will be informed over the results.
